XL Chinese Rattan Palm (calamus rhabdocladus)

(XL Specimen, 8” Pot) A large, vigorous climbing palm with clustering, robust, spiny stems to two inches in diameter and to 100 feet long and large, finely pinnate leaves. Calamus rhabdocladus is native to lowland and montane rain-forests in southern China, Laos and Vietnam. It is the source of a rattan cane suitable for the manufacturing of furniture and its fruits and palm hearts are edible. It is one of the most cool-growing rattan palms and will do well in most humid tropical and warm temperate climates. Together with its clustering habit, this makes it one of the best rattans that can be grown in or out of the tropics.
